Don passed away on June 2, 2014 of aggressive Lymphoma. Family and friends are placing polished stones in memory of him in places they know he would enjoy.

Janet says: We had quite an adventure placing Don's rock. Cara (Stanton's sons's partner) told us there was a lookout point further up the beach where they are at Saint Margaret's Bay and that there was a trail that we could follow along the shoreline to get there.
So we headed out from the beach to find it. Couldn't really find a trail so we started along the shoreline with all these big boulders. We decided to head up into the bush to see if we could find a trail. Well we found a sort of trail that we followed almost out the the point. We were going up and under trees and almost crawling in some places :-) We reached a dead end where it was just a mess of trees and couldn't get any further so we decided to try to get down to the water. It was fairly steep but we held onto the trees on the way down. It was a bit slippery and I ended up with mud all down my leg and my shorts! Needless to say we decided to navigate the boulders along the shore on the way back. We figure Don would have liked that ;-) Anyways here are a few shots of the rock perched on a big boulder. It's looking out over the ocean to Europe and also has a view back on the beach... |
Phil and Jill and Zada Place One of Don's Stones at Ptarmigan Cirque
Diane Places Some of Don's Stones
I placed a stone beside the Illecillewaet River at the
Illecillewaet campground in Roger's Pass. We often camped here. Don loved to sit at the campsite and listen to the sound of the rushing river. |
I placed a stone at the northwest end of Lake Agnes in Banff National Park on a misty, showery day. We enjoyed the hike to the tea house, along the lake and up to the Big Beehive many times in all kinds of weather.
