Our trip to Spain came about when we were approached by a Spanish couple on HomeExchange.com about doing an exchange. Their townhouse is in Banyoles, which is not far from Girona and quite close to both the Pyrenees and the French border. Something we should have realized is that it's quite hot in Spain in July! Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our stay. We spent about 2 weeks touring, hiking and camping in the Spanish and French Pyrenees, which were cooler because of the altitude. The hikes were spectacular. The one place we were not impressed with was Alicante, which we made a special trip to visit because Don's cousin lives there. it's very hot. The town is overbuilt, and the countryside is scrubby.
